Vancouver Special Re-envisioned
Vancouver Specials are great houses to renovate. Their structure lends itself to open concept layouts and their simplicity makes them straightforward to work on. For this Vancouver Special, the client had a vision for a modern, yet unique home. Comfortable to live in and convenient for entertaining. When she purchased the house, it was dilapidated, full of asbestos and in a word: uninhabitable. Our crew then set to work gutting the entire home and reinforcing the structural framing. Our trusted trades installed all new electrical and plumbing. A new heat pump, insulation, and windows made the home energy efficient and comfortable. These energy upgrades also generated government rebates for the client. Our finishing carpenters installed a custom slat wall to close off the stairwell, yet leave the space visually open. Unique tiles, wallpaper, light fixtures and millwork created a very personalized space for the client’s family.
